Editor's Choice Strings Here are my recommendations by vendor for period guitars and copies. This is not a list of all vendors, only the ones I have tried and recommend.

* La Bella 2001L - Light Tension, full pitch
These strings sound good, are consistently intonated, and have safe tension at full pitch for most period guitars, plus they are cheap and easy to find. I use these for my 642 scale Stauffer copy, 630 scale ca. 1805 Lavigne, and 540 scale Terz guitar. Strings by Mail always carries these at low cost with fast and good service in my past dealings. However, I don't like nylon for 2nd and 3rd (b,g) strings on romantic guitars - they sound a bit flabby to me, so I throw them out and replace them with gut or fluorocarbon, with good results. However, if you're in a hurry and not so picky, these will do fine.
