Domingo Santos Was born in San Esteban Catarina, Department of San Vicente, El Salvador August 4, 1892. In 1923 he moved to San Salvador and shortly after traveled to Italy on a scholarship where he studied composition with Ricardo Storti. He also studied violin with Montelli and Melia and Piano with Maria Allicandri. He excelled in Violin for he became "Maestrino" (assistant) of the class of Professor Melia. He also attended the composition and orchestration courses Antonio D'llia and Alejandro Vesella. He later returned to El Salvador where he composed numerous works for Symphony Orchestra, as well as chamber music and solo instrument. The "Capriccetto", one of the four pieces included in his "Suite for Piano" first published in Paris in 1929 and republished by "Direccion Nacional de Publicaciones" in 2007 under the editorial care of Walter Quevedo-Osegueda, lends itself so well for playing on the guitar that it isn't hard to imagine that the composer first sketched the piece on the 7string guitar, which he was so fond of playing with his friend, Roman guitarist Benedetto di Ponio, and later "transcribed" it to its final form for the...
