A brief introduction to music in the Renaissance
As the English naturalist Charles Robert Darwin stated, ‘the species that survive are the species that adapt’. In the last millennium the human race was confronted with quite some change and as the world population is estimated to reach 7.000.000.000 in 2011 we seem to adapt quite well.
One of the major changes in social and cultural life this last millennium took place in the period, we now call Renaissance. Renaissance, rebirth, applies to the renewed interest in science and arts, inspired by the examples from theancient Greek and Roman world.
