Reflet No. 5 is part of a cycle of compostions, in which A. Ourkouzounov explores new or unusual techniques of performance and tone.
Reflet No.5, which is dedicated to Gruber & Maklar, starts from the assumption, that the 'Quintbass' guitar offers new possibilties of creating the impression of a single virtual musical instrument. It contains chromatic scales of large register, which alternate with rhythmical passages of balkan character.
There are passages, in which the idea of a single instrument prevails, in others both guitars reflect each other ("reflet"). Peter Maklar plays a quint bass built by Hermann Hauser in 1924. Klaus Wildner (Hermann Hauser Guitarfoundation) kindly put this instrument at the duo's disposal.
