Domenico Cimarosa's enchanting keyboard sonata in C-Sharp minor. The collection of 88 Rococo style single-movement sonatas were rediscovered in manuscript in the 1920s. Since then, they have been arranged for various instruments. This particular sonata is commonly played on the guitar, originally it was arranged by the famed guitarist Julian Bream. The Sonata in C-Sharp minor raptures from a tense, harrowing theme into a lush development, reminiscent of a walk through an Italian poplar garden. The theme returns with heightened emotions and settles in a cadential flourish.
