Nazareth’s forty-one waltzes often combine the influence of Chopin with sentimental modinha melodies, creating a genre known as the Brazilian Waltz. This waltz is dedicated to Gabriella Cruz Fagundes, a student of Nazareth, in gratitude for her sensitive and humane response when learning about the untimely death of the composer’s nephew.
