This Sonata in D major was published in 1776 as a set of 13 sonatas in the back of Vargas y Guzmán method for Guitar - "Explicación para tocar la guitarra, Veracruz 1776". I have not seen the manuscript of this Music, so this interpretation is based on the edition by Thomas Schmitt: "Fandango"- edition Doblinger, Dilletto musical 1502. I have been a bit adventurous on the fingering, trying to take full advantage of the octavated bass strings and adding in Campanelas inspired by Gaspar Sanz. I dont know if this technique was still common in this time, but the temptation was too great.

This Guitar is a part of Luthier Leonardo Michelin Salomon’s fellowship project about 19th century guitars. It is a Spanish six course (12 string) Guitar, and it is a copy of a Joséf Pagés from 1811. Recorded with Telefunken M60 in AB Stereo and a Blue Babybottle SL. It went through my Focusrite Clarett and into my Mac. Thanks to Roger Langvik for the reverb samples.
