In 1940 the Argentine composer and guitarist J.F. Gomez Crespo presented his Argentine Series composed of Preludio, Vidalita, Canción, Pampeana, Norteña and Estilo in the Competition of the National Commission for Culture, obtaining the first prize. Andrés Segovia, who defined Gomez Crespo as "the finest sensitivity of the guitar in South America", asked him for the original of this suite, extracting Norteña which thus became part of his concert repertoire, making three recordings in Long Play.
