Duo 1827 consists of the two guitarists Jens Stibal and Tobias Krebs. The two musicians have dedicated themselves to interpreting music from the Baroque, Classical, Biedermeier and early to late Romantic periods. The name ‘Duo 1827’ refers to the year 1827, the year in which Franz Schubert's famous ‘Winterreise’ was composed. It was with this work that the duo first appeared in public in 1827, together with the celebrated tenor Ilker Arcayürek. The duo's main attraction are their two 9-string romantic guitars, which were made by the renowned Czech guitar maker Jan Tulacek. These guitars are precise copies of historical romantic guitars by the famous guitar maker J. G. Stauffer. The choice of these exclusive instruments enables the duo to interpret the works of these musical epochs faithfully in their original keys and to lend them new nuances and dimensions.
