Preludium No. 4 Biberian

Gilbert Biberian (b.1944) was born in Istanbul with a Greek and Armenian heritage. An excellent concert guitarist and composer, he has written for many instruments, but his works for guitar form a substantial and important part of his accomplishments. Many of his compositions are very romantic in character with rapidly changing moods, from wistful nostalgia to overwhelming angst, often within each piece. Preludium No. 4 Colombine is from a collection of 24 preludes written by Biberian, and demonstrate all of his trademarks as a composer. Based on a rondo form (A B A C A), the beautiful and diatonically stable main theme has contrasting episodes with greater harmonic freedom, weaving in and out of different tonalities. The episodes are almost like miniature compositions in themselves, with dramatically different atmospheres and dynamically interwoven...
