The most unknown of Mompou´s original guitar works is probably his Cancion y Danza No 13 which he wrote for the great spanish guitarist Narciso Yepes. The first of the two pieces, Cancion, uses a famous catalan melody - "El cant dels ocells" (the song of the birds). World famous catalan cellist Pau Casals since 1939 used to play this melody in his own arragement at the end of his recitals.
