Marcelo Kayath: "After many years, last week I finally managed to locate the tape I recorded in 1983 for the Paris Competition. Radio France did not allow edits in these recordings (although you could re-start and try again from the beginning), so these performances are a one-take shot. The original tape is quite old, and I did the best I could to improve the original sound. We recorded everything in a classroom of the University of Rio (Uni-Rio), and sometimes you do hear footsteps in the hall and some background noise. Despite all the technical imperfections (including some mistakes and buzzed notes, sorry...), I believe these recordings bring to light some interesting versions of pieces I used to play at the time. All the pictures used here are from the 1982-1986 period. A very special thanks to my brother Claudio Kayath for putting all of this material together. I hope you enjoy it.
