Evocaciones Criollas, I - Ecos Del Paisaje (Steven Watson, guitarra)
This is the first movement of a 1929 set of pieces, Evocaciones Criollas, by Uruguayan composer Alfonso Broqua. This movement is intended to echo the landscape of his country. Each movement of Evocaciones Criollas was written for particular guitarist. However, I'm fairly certain that it was Emilio Pujol who premiered them, and he was certainly the guitarist who championed them. He apparently said that "Evocaciones criollas by Alfonso Broqua, as Homenaje a Debussy by Manuel de Falla, are today's masterworks of the guitar's repertoire".
