This is my performance of the fifth movement of Bach's 1st Violin Partita, performed on the Woodring guitar built for me by my good friend Aaron Ringo. The Sarabande is the traditional third dance of the Baroque dance suite, and by the height of its popularity in the Baroque it frequently featured a strongly emphasized second beat of its triple meter. The Sarabande of this suite does not prominently feature this characteristic, and instead pulls more qualities from the original form of the dance, imported to Europe from the New World. The dance is accompanied by its Double, as are all of the dances in this partita, but regrettably was not included in this video due to recording issues.

This performance was from my May 15, 2015 recital in Hamilton Recital Hall of the Lamont School of Music in Denver, where I studied under the tutelage of Ricardo Iznaola and Jonathan Leathwood.
