I wrote each of these 'postludes' after watching one of the films from the great 1988 Polish drama series Dekalog. The series is centred around a fictional Soviet apartment block; it explores the lives of the various people who live there and the ethical dilemmas they face. Each of the ten films is loosely inspired by one or more of the Ten Commandments (thematically, not didactically). They are slow, reflective, spare and intense, and I hope that I captured some of their character in these postludes. The film series is not meant to be watched in one go, and perhaps neither should these postludes be listened to as a single work. For those generous enough to give them a listen, I would go as far as to recommend "the laudable practice of skipping": if you don't like one, try another.
